Mike Sneesby is announced as the new Chief Executive, Cudo. Launched on September 1, 2010, Cudo is the online group buying company that sits within the joint venture between Microsoft and Nine Entertainment Co (NEC).
As Cudo enters its full second year of trading, Mike will be responsible for growing the foundation business and developing the company’s expansion plans. He will commence in the role on 1 February 2012.
Cudo is a local Australian success story, being one of the county’s fastest going companies. Cudo has sold well over one million vouchers since launch and has been an essential growth partner for over 3,000 small businesses. Over one million Australians receive daily offers from Cudo, saving many millions of dollars in the process.
Billy Tucker, the outgoing Cudo Founder and CEO, in his decision to leave says; “This feels like the right time to leave Cudo. In a relatively short space of time we have built an exceptional team who have turned Cudo into a household name.”
“Mike is perfect for the next phase of growth at Cudo, I’m delighted that he has agreed to come back to Australia for the role and I know the business is in very safe hands.”
Mike was previously the Vice President of IPTV and Technology at Intigral, where he was responsible for leading the company's IPTV business unit as well as heading operations and technology functions across the organisation (IPTV, Mobile and Web). Intigral is the digital media joint venture between Saudi Telecom, Astro Malaysia and the Saudi Research Marketing Group.
Mike is yet another returning ‘ninemsner’, as prior to joining Intigral, Mike headed Corporate Strategy and Business Development for ninemsn. In this role, Mike set up and developed high growth digital media businesses, including establishing "MSN New Zealand" and building it to become an award winning market leader in digital publishing. Prior to that, Mike was at Singtel-Optus where he led the migration of the company's national broadband network.
Announcing the appointment Mark Britt, Group CEO of ninemsn says, "Mike is an exceptional executive with significant experience both in Australia and internationally. Having worked with Mike, I know how strong his leadership skills are and he has a history of delivering growth and innovation in digital media businesses.”
“Mike is joining Cudo following its amazing start-up year. Cudo could not have launched and delivered such outstanding results without Billy at the helm. It is testament to Billy’s hard-work, vision and sheer determination that Cudo has developed into one of the leading group buying companies in Australia,” says Britt.
“Cudo is now an important pillar in our group’s data and advertising strategy moving forward.”
David Coleman, Director of Strategy and Digital, Nine Entertainment Co, said: "Cudo has become a significant digital business in a very short space of time, and we are looking forward to its further growth in the new year. The success of the company to date is a reflection of the great work of Billy Tucker in building the business from scratch."
Mike said his new role as CEO of Cudo is both a challenge and a great opportunity, "I could not think of a more exciting time to come back into the Australian media industry. Cudo delivers a great service for consumers and advertisers and I look forward to exploring new avenues to take the business. We are coming off a very strong base with great momentum and we have the team in place to continue to evolve and innovate our offering.”
