Marc Barnett appointed GM Microsoft Media Network and Ad Exchange

ninemsn has announced the appointment of Marc Barnett to the newly created role of General Manager, Microsoft Media Network (MMN) & Microsoft Advertising Exchange.

Marc will be responsible for defining and driving the strategic direction for performance products and third party networks.

Last month CEO Mark Britt implemented an internal restructure that formally integrated MMN, the Microsoft Advertising Exchange and aligned the business into four distinct divisions: Audience, Advertising, Data and Operations.

Barnett has spent the past year in Singapore as the Director of Specialist Sales for Microsoft Advertising Asia Pacific, but has been on secondment to ninemsn for the past three months, to launch the Microsoft Advertising Exchange. He will now take up the permanent role overseeing the ongoing operations of both the exchange and the MMN business.

“My time in Singapore gave me a wide range of experience across the Microsoft Advertising business, in a variety of markets and cultures across Asia Pacific. I’m looking forward to returning home and working with a company and a product I truly believe in, at a time when there’s so much happening in the programmatic trading space,” says Marc.

Prior to Singapore he spent four years with ninemsn as the Director of Commercial Operations and Performance Media where he was responsible for launching and managing the Performance Media business and MSDR (Microsoft Direct Response).

ninemsn CEO Mark Britt welcomed Barnett back to the fold and congratulated him on the recent launch of the Ad Exchange.
