Friday, 7 October 2011, Australia: ninemsn and ACP Magazines have today launched Australia’s only national restaurant guide app, unveiling Gourmet Traveller 2012 Restaurant Guide for iPhone. Available in the iTunes App Store from today for $2.99.
Providing decadent diners with a mobile version of Gourmet Traveller’s annual compact restaurant guide, the app offers Australia’s only expert-reviewed national mobile restaurant guide for the 360 best-of-the-best eating out options across metro and regional areas.
Users can search for a restaurant from a wide range of filters including; cuisine, location, rating and opening hours and then directly book a table from inside the app.
Forward-planners can also create a ‘wish list’ of must-visit eateries and then tick them off as they go along and share their own reviews with their friends via Facebook or Twitter.
Editor of Gourmet Traveller, Anthea Loucas, says “We are thrilled Australia’s most comprehensive restaurant guide is now mobile. This app includes all reviews from the print edition and will feature comprehensive search and booking functions to further enhance the restaurant guide experience for our readers.
“This launch highlights the strength of Gourmet Traveller as a truly multi-platform brand alongside our increasing online presence through our website, a strong Twitter and Facebook presence and our award-winning iPad app, all of which underlines ACP and ninemsn’s unflagging commitment to Australia’s premier food, wine and travel magazine, Gourmet Traveller.”
Rebecca Haagsma, ninemsn’s Head of Lifestyle and Mobile Audience says: “Along with our partners, ninemsn is investing jointly in both apps and mobile browse as these are equally important in our vision to provide universal access to our content.
“We now have six mobile apps in the marketplace, across various platforms spanning the news, sports, entertainment and lifestyle categories. These are in addition to our 12 mobile browse sites.
“We are being thoughtful in our mobile approach, to ensure we continue to create the best consumer experience for out content brands for the long-term. We also think deeply about the type of audience that will be accessing our content and on what devices,” said Haagsma.
