Sydney, Australia, August 17th, 2011:
Fans eagerly anticipating the launch of Underbelly: Razor can get their first fix of the program at ninemsn’s Underbelly website now, ahead of its August 21 television debut. The dedicated Underbelly site, which currently features sizzle reels, interviews and first look photos, will be the ultimate digital companion for viewers as the series airs, with more exclusive content added after each week’s episode.
“We always knew Underbelly : Razor was going to be a landmark series and we worked closely with the creators from the start to develop a totally immersive digital companion experience. Our aim was not only to capture excellent cast interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, but also to give some background on 1920 Sydney in which Razor is set,” said Ben Watts, Head of Entertainment at ninemsn.
“Each week as this incredible true story unfolds on TV, we will be releasing features on the website directly relevant to that episode. We know from past series that the Underbelly audience are always hungry for any additional content related to the show, and with this series we have so much to keep them engaged while they are eagerly awaiting the next episode,” said Watts.
As broadcasting commences, Underbelly fans visiting ninemsn will meet the Black Knight of Razor, Norman Bruhn, and the famed vice queens, Kate Leigh and Tilly Devine who battled for control of a world built on illegal drugs, gambling, extortion and prostitution. Each character is brought to life on the website with historic biographies, feature interviews, pictures, and a sneak peek of them in action on the screen in selected trailers. The website also features an interview with Larry Writer, the author of the best-selling book RAZOR on which the television series is based.
Underbelly: Razor is an ambitious drama set in 1920’s Sydney, a time when brothels and sly grog shops flourished and gangs of thugs slashed their opposition into silence until the streets ran with blood.
Each episode will be uploaded to ninemsn’s catch-up TV service FIXPlay (accessible via the Underbelly website) and will be available to view for free for four weeks after it has aired on Channel 9, giving fans the opportunity to re-watch or catch up on episodes they really enjoyed or missed on TV.
Underbelly: Razor will premiere, Sunday, August 21 at 8.30PM on Channel Nine. For a first look and ongoing behind the scenes content visit ninemsn.com.au/underbelly
