Users of Rate Your Place, an online user-generated, suburb rating tool, have named Banksia Beach and Bongaree as the all-round best suburbs in Queensland, while Durack, Allenstown and Mackay have been named among the worst.

With suburbs from all over Queensland being rated on criteria such as local services, community and affordability, Banksia Beach has consistently received an average rating of 8.9 out of 10, with one user describing the suburb as having "a great relaxed lifestyle...a water wonderland", whilst the lesser loved suburb of Allenstown was described as "nothing great in this place...a hell hole really" and received an average rating of 4 out of 10.
