Australia's largest online publisher launches new content for FIXPlay

Sydney, Australia – Thursday 8th July 2010: ninemsn today has announced it will release further quality programming from BBC Worldwide on its free web TV service. The deal means Australians can now access more than 380 hours of catch-up and back-catalogue TV shows at ninemsn's long-play video destination.

FIXPlay's new content includes classic BBC shows, such as The Young Ones, The League of Gentlemen, The Naked Chef, Walking with Dinosaurs and Trinny and Susannah's What Not to Wear. Catch-up content for shows on Channel Nine and Go! includes Rescue Special Ops (Season 2), final season of ER (Season 15) and RBT (Random Breath Test), which go live after free-to-air broadcast.

FIXPlay has served 1.9 million video streams since its launch in April. The most popular show to date is Underbelly: The Golden Mile, which delivered a record 1,365, 648 streams for the season.

Andrew Hunter, Head of Network, ninemsn said: "This is a great start for FIXPlay. Our viewers are discovering they don’t need high-speed broadband to watch quality catch-up TV from Nine as well as classic BBC shows like The Naked Chef and Little Britain.

"At FIXPlay, buffering is a thing of the past. Our player instantaneously detects your internet speed and serves the best possible picture."

FIXPlay is powered by the latest Microsoft Silverlight Smooth Streaming technology to deliver the best available video experience for viewers, whatever their Internet connection speed. Silverlight is a free and legal download available at FIXPlay.

Current and back-catalogue content available on FIXPlay is sourced from Channel 9 and GO!, as well as international distributors including BBC Worldwide, Warner Bros. and UK-based Digital Rights Group.
