Ninemsn Chief Technology Officer announced

Sydney, Australia, Tuesday, 19 October 2010: ninemsn CEO Joe Pollard today announced Richard McLaren has been appointed to the new role of Chief Technology Officer.

McLaren joins ninemsn with a wealth of experience in IT, technology and consulting. Most recently he has been consulting with a leading Australian telecommunications organisation.

Prior to that McLaren held various IT strategy and interim CIO roles both in Australia and abroad, including interim IT Director at in the UK, and VP Global Strategy for Thoughtworks.

At ninemsn he will report to Joe Pollard and be responsible for the development and implementation of ninemsn’s technology and multi-platform media strategy.

Pollard said: "I am extremely excited to welcome Richard aboard. His depth of experience, strategic skills and passion for IT and technology make him the ideal leader to guide ninemsn’s digital media expansion."

Commenting on his new role, McLaren said: "ninemsn is an exciting business that is uniquely placed to take advantage of great expansion in the multi-platform digital media arena. I feel very privileged to become part of the team and to work with such a capable and talented group of people."

McLaren has also spent time consulting for BCG and Arthur Andersen, and has held line management roles at Macquarie Group and Chase Manhattan Bank. He holds a BA Maths & Philosophy, University of Lancaster and Master of Philosophy, Kings College, Cambridge.

McLaren will join ninemsn on November 24th.
