Mark Britt has been announced as the new Group Chief Executive Officer of ninemsn, a joint venture between Microsoft and Nine Entertainment Co. Mr Britt will have overall responsibility for all group assets across Australia and New Zealand including ninemsn, Windows Live, Bing, Cudo as well as investments in iSelect and RateCity. He will commence in the role 1 September 2011.
Mr Britt was previously with Microsoft in Singapore where he was General Manager of the Consumer and Online Group leading Microsoft’s consumer software, online and advertising efforts across Asia Pacific. Prior to this Mr Britt has held roles leading Strategy and Business Development for Microsoft in Asia Pacific as well as working previously with ninemsn as theChief Financial Officer.
Announcing the appointment of Mr Britt to the Group CEO role at ninemsn was Pat O’Sullivan, Chairman of ninemsn. "Mark is an exceptional executive with significant experience both in the Australian market and across Asia. Mark has been an integral contributor to the ninemsn Board of Directors over many years and has a deep understanding of shareholder expectations and the continued opportunity for market leadership for the Group”.
Mr O’Sullivan said Mr Britt was joining the business following a record year with excellent results in the core business as well as growth in Bing, New Zealand and the successful launch of Australia’s number one group buying site, Cudo.
Adding to this, Tracey Fellows, Area Vice President, Microsoft Asia Pacific said, “Having worked with Mark over the past six years, both in his roles at ninemsn and Microsoft, I know how strong his leadership skills are and he has a history of delivering growth and innovation in digital media businesses.”
