The Over the Page(OTP) ad unit is a floating ad unit that displays automatically once the page content has fully downloaded (politely loading). The OTP portion of the ad will automatically display for 8 seconds before resolving to a 300x250 reminder ad unit.

Important Informationa. All concepts/storyboards must be submitted 10 working days before the campaign to ensure that the concept complies with the Ninemsn brand/design specifications. Functionalitya. Build - The OTP must be built to the technical specifications of the 3rd party (list of supported vendors in table above). Please contact the vendor for more detail on these specifications.
b. Sound - All audio should be off by default, but can be used for the duration of the OTP provided it is user initiated and has a visible mute/unmute button. OTP Replays can start with sound on
c. Video - Additional video/sound content can be downloaded on click initiation (see above for file size limits). Please include a clear call to action indicating that the user will be 'downloading a larger file'.
d. Close button - The close button must be present for the duration of the OTP with minimum dimensions 50px x 20px and display the word Close and an X symbol. It should be in the top right hand corner and stand out from the ad unit.
e. Positioning - The OTP element will be positioned flush with the top right hand corner of the page and under the navigation bar, it should not be built to run outside this area or over any navigational areas on the page(tabs, nav bar etc..)
Frequency Cappinga.The OTP must be frequency capped depending on the buyout period:
  • Full day buyout- 2 Impressions per user. Once between 00:00 and 11:59 (AM) and another between 12:00 and 23:59 (PM).
  • Half day buyout - Once per user.

Note: All frequency cappping must be implemented by the 3rd party vendor with the exception of Eyewonder tags.
Design and Performancea.Content - To protect our brand please ensure:
  • All images and content are appropriate to the general audience nature of the homepage.
  • The OTP does not imitate any elements of the ninemsn homepage, any content used in ads must be live content.
  • The ad does not try to launch an ad in a new browser window(pop up/pop under) or shake the browser window.

  • Price points can not appear within the OTP creative unless approved by Content Producers
  • b.Transparency - A minimum of 70% opacity is allowed in the OTP area. Permission for full transparency can be obtained on a case by case basis. Please contact your sales rep with any mockups/storyboards.
    c.Performance - Please try to minimise the CPU load of any Ad Units submitted and bear in mind that there will be other flash elements on the page slowing down the user's machine. Any ads that cause excessive CPU load and damages user experience once tested on the page will not be accepted.

    Note: All ad executions are subject to approval and ninemsn reserves the right to request changes to content and/or execution for brand equity/user experience reasons. If you are unsure about a concept that you are working on please submit it to your sales rep for feedback.
    Timelines & Deliverya. Three (3) separate tags must be supplied from the 3rd party vendor; two for the OTP (AM and PM each of which will be frequency capped at one) and one for the leave behind
    b. All material must be delivered at least five (5) working days prior to campaign launch to ensure technical compatibility and internal concept approval.

    Note: If creative is late an estimated % of impressions equivalent to the prorated daily inventory level will be cancelled from the total impressions booked.
