Network Home Expanding Billboard
The network home Expanding Billboard is a 980x250 Expandable Rich Media ad unit that sits directly underneath the site navigation. On user initiation (click), the unit can expand down the page. The unit also contains a Ninemsn hosted close ad functionality which gives the user the option to remove the ad after they have seen it and enforce a frequency cap on the ad for the remainder of the day. It also runs with a non-expanding 300x250 leave behind, which should be built per our specs here

Important Informationa. All concepts/storyboards must be submitted 10 working days before the campaign to ensure that the concept complies with the Ninemsn brand/design specifications.
b. Animation in the initial 980x250 Billboard should be less than 15 seconds with no looping allowed. Any additional animation in the masthead area must be click initiated.
Functionalitya. Build -The Billboard must be built to the technical specifications of the 3rd party (list of supported vendors in table above). Please contact the vendor for more detail on these specifications.
b. Sound -All audio should be off by default, but can be used for the duration of the Billboard provided it is user initiated and has a visible mute/unmute button. Animation replays can start with sound on.
c. Video -Additional video/sound content can be downloaded on click initiation (see above for file size limits). Please include a clear call to action indicating that the user will be 'downloading a larger file'.
d. Minimise button -A minimise button must be present on the expanded portion of the Billboard at all times. It must display the word minimise in the top right hand corner next to our close button and be designed to stand out from the ad and page background (min 50px by 20px). Please note that a Ninemsn site controlled close button will be present on the ad unit at all times in the top right hand corner(90px by 20px) that will close the entire ad unit, please be careful to position the Minimize button outside this area.
e. Expansion -The expanded panel must expand down only and never over the site navigation/or Ninemsn header. Expansion is permitted to any size(expanded panel size provided above is only a guide). Full screen takeover is not permitted.
f. Layering -Please ensure the creative and/or tags sent to Ninemsn have all elements of the creative rendering with a maximum z-index of 3

Note: If ad serving with MediaMind, please contact their creative support team and ask them to apply the Ninemsn masthead custom script once uploaded into the MediaMind platform.
Design and Performancea.Content -To protect our brand please ensure:
  • All images and content are appropriate to the general audience nature of the homepage.
  • The Expanded Billboard does not imitate any elements of the ninemsn homepage, any content used in ads must be live content.
  • The ad does not try to launch an ad in a new browser window(pop up/pop under) or shake the browser window.
b.Transparency-A minimum of 70% opacity is allowed in the expanded area.
c.Performance -Please try to minimise the CPU load of any Ad Units submitted and bear in mind that there will be other flash elements on the page slowing down the user's machine. Any ads that cause excessive CPU load and damages user experience once tested on the page will not be accepted.

Note: All ad executions are subject to approval and ninemsn reserves the right to request changes to content and/or execution for brand equity/user experience reasons. If you are unsure about a concept that you are working on please submit it to your sales rep for feedback.
Timelines & Deliverya. All 3rd party creative should be delivered to Ninemsn via 3rd party ad serving tags.
b. All material must be delivered at least five (5) working days prior to campaign launch to ensure technical compatibility and internal concept approval

Note: If creative is late an estimated % of impressions equivalent to the prorated daily inventory level will be cancelled from the total impressions booked
